There is a new, interactive bulletin board outside the music room! Each week, new clues will be posted about a singer, band, or composer. Students will have an opportunity to guess who the person is and enter their name into a drawing. At the end of the week, three students' names will be drawn for a prize! Encourage your students to research the clues to find out the mystery music artist!
Level 3 students are preparing for recorder and guitar and they are SO very excited to play! In order for students to feel comfortable with playing the instruments, we needed to review the pitch names on the treble clef staff. Today, a few Level 3 classes created their own acronyms to help them remember the lines and spaces on the treble staff. We will continue this project through the end of this week and students will be bringing home their recorders next week, so be ready! Students in second grade have been focusing on rhythm notation for most of the year. This past week, they've had a chance to compose rhythmic pieces using AB form. Students composed a piece in a group and then performed their piece on various instruments in the classroom. All of the groups did a tremendous job and I would like to share two of their performances with you. Enjoy!
Students in first grade have been working hard since the start of the year to understand steady beat in music. Students have had opportunities to play steady beat using various instruments and to show steady beat by moving their bodies in different ways. This week, they were asked to aurally and visually identify things that had a steady beat. All students did a great job and the worksheets were sent home earlier in the week. Thanks for supporting music in your childs' life! I'm looking forward to more fun activities with our wonderful first grade students. Have a great weekend!
