Today, students in Level 3 started a non-traditional composition project. They were given a task of creating a pattern on a drum, xylophone, and metallophone and then notating their pattern using non-traditional notation. Non-traditional means they can't write actual music notes to show what they are playing. We started today and students are doing a great job so far. Once the notation is complete, they will practice playing it and it will be shared with the class and recorded. Check back often for more updates on their project!

UPDATE: Students started recording their pieces today using Garage Band on an iPad. Each instrument is recording their part individually, and the groups will be mixing the instruments in the app to get the sound they want. They are doing a great job and I can't wait to hear/see the results!
UPDATE 10/7/2014 Students have completed their projects and shared them with their classes today. They did a fantastic job creating their pieces using GarageBand. I will be trying to post a few of their compositions online so you can enjoy them.
